FAQs
- Do you provide an installation service?
- No, these verandas are provided as high-quality yet affordable self-assembly kits. We include clear and easy-to-follow instructions with each kit, making it possible for any competent DIYer to install. An assembly instruction video will be available soon.
- Are there any additional costs associated with the veranda kits?
- Yes, there are shipping costs of either £199 or £225, depending on your delivery preference. Alternatively, there is a £25 collection fee to cover the cost of the glass/polycarbonate pallet carrier if you choose to collect your veranda kit from our warehouse in Merthyr Tydfil. Otherwise, what you see is what you get with our veranda kits. Our knowledge and expertise of over 10 years allows us to bring you the strongest veranda structure at an unbeatable self-assembly price making VerandaLiving affordable for all.
- Do I need planning permission?
- While an extension may require planning permission, this is unlikely for VerandaLiving verandas. With over 10 years of experience, we have found that less than 5% of veranda projects require planning permission because most UK households benefit from permitted development rights. VerandaLiving structures are classified as temporary buildings and therefore don’t require planning permission. You only need to consider planning permission if you have already extended your property, if your property is a listed building or in a conservation area. If you are still unsure, please email us at info@verandaliving.co.uk with some details, and we will endeavour to assist you.
- How much maintenance do VerandaLiving verandas need and do they come with warranty?
- VerandaLiving products are very low-maintenance. While we recommend keeping the glass, roofing material, and aluminium supports clean using our dedicated care pack (available as an optional extra), no other upkeep is necessary. This is because all VerandaLiving products are constructed with a sleek and sturdy aluminium frame. We use only the highest quality materials, ensuring that our verandas are among the most durable on the market for an affordable price.
All our verandas come with a 5 year warranty and our lighting comes with a 2 year warranty. Please note: glass is excluded from the warranty.
- Do you provide heating options?
- Yes, we supply a number of state-of-the-art veranda heating products to help you stay warm while you're enjoying your outdoor living space. These outdoor heaters come equipped with a range of great features, from remote control functionality to LED lights and speakers (selected heaters only).
- Do you provide lighting options?
- Yes, if you want to continue enjoying your veranda space after the sun has set, we supply lighting kits containing energy-efficient and dimmable LED spotlights to help you do just that. Our veranda lights help to boost the ambience of your outdoor living space. We recommend 2 lights per rafter.
- Do you provide bespoke customisation options?
- No, these verandas are sold as fixed-size kits and are not available as freestanding structures. Our VerandaLiving verandas are available in White or Anthracite Grey, with a choice of either a glass or polycarbonate roof.
- How long does delivery take and where do you deliver to?
- As all of our verandas are already in stock, we offer an express delivery option and delivery can be anywhere between 1-3 days. We deliver nationwide to the UK mainland.
- How long will it take to assemble my veranda?
- With two people, one of our DIY verandas can be assembled in 3 hours with help from our comprehensive and easy-to-follow assembly instructions.
- Do I need to lay foundations for my VerandaLiving veranda?
- One of the biggest selling points of our verandas is that they don’t require any foundation and can be installed over existing patios, decking, or even soil. Most VerandaLiving structures are installed onto concrete post bases.
- How will my veranda connect to my house?
- An aluminium base plate will be attached to your property using masonry fixings. We use durable, flexible silicone or lead flashing at the connection point between your veranda and the house to prevent water ingress. VerandaLiving structures are designed to withstand British weather conditions, but during heavy downpours, you might occasionally experience some water ingress through side walls and doors.
- Where does the water go from the veranda roof?
- Rainwater will run off the roof into an integrated, concealed gutter at the front of the VerandaLiving structure. The water then travels through the front post and exits either above ground or below ground, depending on your selected gutter system and installation type.
- Are your VerandaLiving structures strong enough to withstand heavy snow?
- Our VerandaLiving verandas have been designed and manufactured to withstand heavy snow with a lot of them being installed in the Alps and the Highlands of Scotland already. The roof is designed to take up to 90kg (roughly 50cm of snow) per sqm weight load.
- Should I choose a glass roof or a polycarbonate roof?
- This is entirely your preference but here are some details, pros and cons about our two roof options. Our 8.8mm thick laminated glass roof provides ideal acoustic properties, meaning less noise will be made during heavy rainfall and provides a clear view of the sky but also provides no UV protection and is slightly costlier. Our 16mm clear polycarbonate roof is a more cost effective option that offers excellent UV protection and a very high impact resistance but doesn’t offer a clear view of the sky and can be very noisy during heavy rainfall.
- Why is the pitch of a veranda roof important?
- The pitch is crucial for water drainage, snow load management, and the overall aesthetic of the veranda. Proper pitch ensures that rainwater flows off efficiently, preventing water damage and leaks. All of our VerandaLiving structures have a fixed 8 degree pitch equating to a fall of 14cm per metre of projection. This ensures our verandas are effective in directing water away from the structure, minimising maintenance needs.
